Brain-based teaching and learning is an approach that is based on the way current research in neuroscience indicates that our brains naturally learn best. Participants will learn how the brain processes information, the functions of the senses, working memory, long-term memory, storage and retrieval, and the development of the self concept. Teachers will learn the optimal time to present new material and understand the power of transfer in the teaching/learning process. Techniques to improve processing and retention and information regarding left/right brain preferences, and promote higher-level thinking also will be explored.
