This course analyzes the major dimensions of state building in Israeli democracy, politics and society as they developed since 1948. Students will study the historical background and geography of Israel. There will be special emphasis on the challenges that Israel faces in the 21st century and beyond, including absorption of today’s new immigrants and the peace process. Students will attend lectures and seminars on the topics above and visit sites important to the history and building of the state.
Student will write a research paper on one of topics listed above.
