This course examines the nexus between Jewish philosophy and Jewish education by exploring conceptions of Jewish education articulated by various Jewish thinkers. Students will investigate the relation between their different conceptions of the aims and nature of Jewish education. Philosophers to be discussed include Martin Buber, Ahad Ha'am, Franz Rosenzweig, Abraham Joshua Heschel, Mordecai Kaplan, and David Hartman.
