Program: Jewish Education (Undergraduate), Jewish Education (Graduate)
This course of exploration considers ways of 'translating' so-called subjects of Jewish curriculum into realities that we and our students can recognize as significantly addressing our own lived lives. Whether entering into the close reading of Judaism's sacred texts or engaging Jewish art and music and related contemporary film, prayer and sacred time and pportunities/dangers at stake via our history=making participation in Jewish peoplehood - especially as posed by life in Israel today, this seminar encourages the development of a reciprocally challenging conversation between Jewish philosophy, on the one hand, and Jewish curriculum design and implementation, on the other.
