What can I earn through JCHS Online?
Grades 8-10
Each course is 2 credits. Students may take as many courses as they like. Courses run in 14 week semesters, fall and spring. Students may take these courses for personal enrichment or to satisfy requirements for camp, Confirmation or Hebrew High school.
Grades 11-12
Same as above, plus juniors and seniors are eligible to take certain designated courses for college credit.
Due to our affiliation with Gratz College, which is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, we are able to allow students the opportunity to earn college credits.
Through this arrangement, selected college-level courses are accepted by Gratz College for academ- ic credit. A minimum grade of “B” and research projects are required.
Up to 15 college credits may be transferred to other colleges and universities for a transfer fee. Upon completion of additional research requirements, senior students may also apply to have credits from approved study summer programs transferred to their academic record. These credits may also be eligible for transfer to colleges and universities. Please note that while many institutions of higher education accept such credits, each institution is free to accept credits as it sees fit.
What can I earn when I graduate?
JCHS Online students who enroll in at least one course in both the fall and spring of their senior year are eligible to graduate from the Jewish Community High School of Gratz College. Students are invited to march in graduation which is usually held on the first Sunday in June at our Philadelphia campus, and fees apply.
JCHS Letter of Credit Recognition: for students who have earned up to 30 credits over their years of study at JCHS Online.
Certificate of Merit: for students who have earned from 30-69 credits. Up to 20 credits may be transferred from other Jewish educational programs such as local Hebrew High schools, Jewish educational camps, youth group Shabbatonim, and Israel experiences. Please discuss with the program director to evaluate transferred programs.
