The Board of Regents of Gratz College is the College’s advisory, honorary and international board. Its goals are to advance the College by bringing to bear the talents and resources of alumni, supporters, teachers, and others devoted to Gratz’s mission of encouraging Jewish learning and living.

Like most institutions of higher learning, a plurality of Gratz’s alumni and supporters reside in the region contiguous with the institution, which in Gratz’s case lies within the Delaware Valley and elements of the Eastern Seaboard. Nevertheless, for decades Gratz has been a national and international institution that has educated Jewish leaders who have gone on to take leadership roles within the lay and professional communities throughout the United States, Israel and Europe. Therefore, the Board of Regents constitutes Gratz’s international advisory board, dedicated to advancing the College’s mission by sharing the expertise of its members and by preserving and expanding Gratz’s network of friends and supporters.

Activities and Responsibilities

• Advisory : The Board of Regents serves as a major advisory board to the President of Gratz College. Suggestions for expanding the institution and encouraging its growth and prosperity may come from the Board of Regents and will be carefully considered.
• Building Connections : The Board of Regents works to promote connections with alumni as well as to build bridges to new friends of Gratz College. Its members also play a role in assisting the Office of Admissions in continuing Gratz’s long tradition of attracting the finest students in Jewish life.
• Sounding Board : The Board of Regents serves as a sounding board for the President and the officers of the Board of Governors in dealing with questions and challenges that Gratz faces. It thus serves as an important source of advice and counsel as Gratz progresses.
• Expanding Knowledge : The Board of Regents seeks to alert Jewish communities and individuals throughout the world to the important work Gratz does in educating Jewish teachers and communal leaders.
• Encouraging Support : The Board of Regents seeks to secure the interest of prospective donors to Gratz College for programs specifically endorsed by the Board of Regents.
• Provision of Expertise : The Board of Regents provides their intellectual expertise in specialized areas that will strengthen Gratz College and its faculty, Board of Governors and students.
