Rita Appel, B.A.

Rita Appel joined the Jewish Community High School of Gratz College in 1988. She has been teaching Hebrew language and Jewish Studies for the past 30 plus years in the Philadelphia and suburban region. Rita was the educational director of the Jewish Community High School Beth-El branch in Yardley, Pennsylvania.
Rita holds a degree in Jewish Thought and Sociology from Stern College, Yeshiva University. She also holds a certificate from The International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem. For the past six years Rita has facilitated Youth Group Symposium Events on the Holocaust sponsored by JCRC. Rita is the recipient of the Grinspoon Teacher of the Year award in 2009. She was instrumental in Project Etgar (a new curriculum under The Jewish Theological Seminary in 2003).
Rita enjoys stimulating the minds of her students and encouraging their creative and critical thinking. In her free time Rita enjoys gardening, photography and spending time with her family. She is fluent in Yiddish and Hebrew.
