Trips
Every semester, the Gratz College Netzky Division of Continuing
Education sponsors day trips to destinations of Jewish interest in New
York and Washington D.C. In accordance with the academic
goals of Gratz College, museum trips are a favorite and include: Ellis
Island, The Jewish Museum, the Tenement Museum, The Museum of Natural
History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Jewish Heritage
and the National Holocaust Museum. Participants often also enjoy
a guided walking tour of certain New York neighborhoods with rich
Jewish histories. Whenever possible, a Gratz College professor or
community scholar accompanies the group to deliver an introductory talk
on the bus and answer questions throughout the day.
For the past several years, Gratz College has also organized sold-out
trips to the Folksbiene Yiddish Theater in New York, led by Rita
Ratson, the Yiddish Culture and Language Coordinator. In the
past, Gratz College has also provided a Walking Tour of Jewish
Philadelphia and group tickets for productions with Jewish content at
the Prince Theater and other locations in Center City.
