Professional Development for Educators
Beginning its formal operations in 1895 as a Hebrew teachers' college, Gratz College is the oldest independent, non-denominationally affiliated college of Jewish studies and education in the Western Hemisphere. Gratz brings a passion for learning and pride in our heritage to all our course offerings. Indeed, Gratz College, which has been teaching teachers and educators for more than a century, is an internationally recognized institution of higher learning, specializing in the training of master educators and communal professionals. Extensive graduate credit continuing education course are offered throughout the year and are designed to meet the professional development needs of educators and other working professionals. The College awards professional and academically oriented master's degrees, bachelor's degrees and specialized certificates.

The College is chartered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
The outcome of the MA program is to assist the classroom teacher in developing, through research and practices, her/his knowledge, skill level and overall classroom expertise. Out-of-class activities, course projects and assignments, culminating in the Performance Project, will enable/require the candidate to apply in the classroom the knowledge and skill that have been learned and mastered. The ultimate beneficiaries of this program will be the children, the schools and the community.
