Musical Samples (September, 2007)

As we begin a new year, we hope for many blessings, among them the blessing of health for all those among us who are in need of physical or spiritual healing.  In this moving contemporary selection by Cantor Leon Sher, Gratz College music student Harold Messinger and the Gratz College Chorale offer their heartfelt interpretation of Heal Us Now.

It is a tree of life to those who grasp it,
And its supporters are praiseworthy.
Its ways are ways of pleasantness
And all its paths are peace.
Bring us back to You, God,
And we shall return.

These stirring words that conclude the Torah service have been sung to many melodies, but none more lovely than this setting by Bob Applebaum, sung by the Gratz College Chorale.

The Chorale is directed by Dr. Marsha Bryan Edelman, and accompanied by Gratz music student Laurent Levy.
