Yiddish I for Beginners
Enter the world of Yiddish in a course that develops basic vocabulary and beginning competency in speaking, reading and writing Yiddish. Course includes study of Yiddish folk songs as well as idioms, expressions and proverbs. Previous knowledge of the alphabet is not assumed. Yiddish I students will need to purchase their text book, The Yiddish Teacher by H.E. Goldin, available from instructor or online bookstores.
Yiddish II: Intermediate
Increase competency in reading, writing and basic vocabulary building in order to continue developing simple conversational skills. Study of Yiddish folk songs will continue as well as idioms, expressions and proverbs.
Yiddish III: Advanced
This class will continue to build conversational skills through folk songs, and reading and discussion of Yiddish literature using the required textbook.
Conversation Corner
This class focuses on conversation and vocabulary building as well as familiar folk songs. Some transliterated material.
