Tuttleman Library welcomes gifts that strengthen and support the Library’s mission and collections as well as the mission of Gratz College. As an online college the Library is moving to a 21st century electronic focused collection. We no longer acquire journal publications in print, and acquire print books on a very limited basis.

Space and staff are very limited making the acceptance of donated materials a difficult process. Donors may also want to consider local thrift stores, Better World Books, Books Through Bars, or GreenDrop as an option for book donations.

If you feel that your materials would be a good fit for our collection and our academic programs, you  must provide a detailed inventory list of the materials that you wish to give to the Tuttleman Library. Unfortunately, our staff is unavailable to assist in preparation of the list. Do not drop off any materials without prior approval. Upon receipt of the inventory, staff will review it in a timely manner and notify the donor if we are able to accept the materials.

Tuttleman Library nor Gratz College does not provide appraisals for donated materials.

Archival / Historic Material

Tuttleman Library does collect primary source materials of an archival nature such as diaries, letters, photographs, and correspondence on a case by case basis. Of particular interest would be materials that would support the current programs offered by the college

What Will Happen to Donated Materials

If the materials and Donation Form were accepted, the donation will be organized and, if appropriate, a bibliographic record and/or finding aid will be created to describe the content and the arrangement.

If Library materials (e.g., books) are accepted, the donation will be processed and added to our online catalog in the order in which it was received. Accepted books will not indicate the name of the donor(s) unless otherwise indicated. Archival materials (e.g. papers, photos, artifacts) will be placed in non-damaging containers and stored in facilities that provide security.

If part of, or the entirety of, the donation does not fit within our collection, we reserve the right to dispose of the donation, unless otherwise stated in the Donation Form.

The Library staff may choose certain materials to be scanned and published online with appropriate and complete citations.
