Summer Institute is a three-day event in that July brings together the Gratz faculty and students in a virtual conference that functions as part of your program coursework. Our faculty and guest speakers will challenge and energize students to learn more and apply that knowledge to real life. Depending on your program this may fulfill your residency requirement. We invite all students to join our panels, listen to our speakers, learn more about doing academic research, and much more.

Summer Institute has traditionally offered Gratz doctoral students a chance to come together in learning and fellowship on campus as part of their residency requirement. Today, we are leveraging the extended reach of online learning and we are inviting all Gratz students to join us.

Gratz students are required to attend based on program; please consult with your program director. All students are strongly encouraged to participate in Summer Institute with us in real-time! Students have reported that they enjoy the opportunity to participate in a synchronous event with other Gratz students.

This year's Summer Institute will not charge any additional fees to students enrolled in degree programs beyond the cost of tuition. 

Program sessions are designed by your instructor for the course you are enrolled in for the Summer B term. The content of these sessions will be reflective of the Summer Institute 2022 theme Reimagining Libraries in the 21st Century and will be tailored to your course. Your instructor will provide more information to you at the beginning of the term.

All students enrolled in degree programs are strongly encouraged to attend each event live. If you cannot attend your program sessions, please be sure to notify your instructor. Keynote speaker sessions will be recorded and provided to all students enrolled in degree programs for a limited time following the scheduled event. Non-matriculated members will not have access to a recording outside of the scheduled event time.

All meetings during Summer Institute will be created and monitored by Gratz College faculty and staff. However, students are welcome and encouraged to create their own groups, breakouts, virtual coffee/ social hours with their classmates and cohort separately.
