Nina Warnke, Ph.D.

Nina Warnke holds a B.A. in Theatre History from Mount Holyoke College and a Ph.D. in Yiddish Studies from Columbia University. She has lectured and published extensively on Yiddish theatre and Yiddish literature. A forthcoming article will be included in the volume Women on the Yiddish Stage and among her most recent publications are an essay on representations of Shylock in Yiddish in Wrestling with Shylock and entries for the Encyclopedia of Jewish History and Culture. Over the past three decades, she served as a faculty member at Columbia University, Indiana University, the University of Texas at Austin and Vanderbilt University. She taught a wide range of courses related to East European and German Jewish  literature and culture and developed curricula for several Yiddish language programs, including a special course on Yiddish for Holocaust researchers which she taught for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Indiana University. She is also working as a translator of Yiddish texts.
