Methods of Teaching Jewish History, Theory & Practice (JED 506)

3 credits

The course will cover a variety of techniques and themes in teaching Jewish history. We will study the teaching of local Jewish history and the use of oral history, and techniques for working with historical artifacts, including physical artifacts and textual artifacts, as well as uses of art and literature in teaching Jewish history. The course will also discuss some periods and themes in Jewish history that pose special questions, such as the Biblical period and the 21st century.  This course will take place on-line in Spring B: February 27- April 30.
