Like all music, Jewish music expresses values and preserves traditions. In this class, you will explore the diverse languages, texts and sounds that are part of the historic – and present – Jewish culture. You will discover the ways in which music reflects geographic location and historical circumstance. Special attention will be paid to the role and development of choral music in the Jewish tradition, with a particular focus on the repertoire selected for performance by HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir.
