PERSPECTIVES ON DEVASTATING TIMES
In commemoration of the Holocaust, three local artists--- Marlene Adler, Reena Milner Brooks, and Diana Taflin Myers--- are collaborating on an exhibit at Gratz College that presents both personal and historical views of the atrocities suffered by the Jews during WWII.
Marlene Adler’s mixed media prints retell stories of historical events using elements from nature and abstractions that draw from the memories as well as factual experiences of the survivors.
Reena Milner Brooks’ mixed media monotypes tell the chronological story of her Mother’s journey through the Holocaust with her two cousins as a Hungarian teenager. She was inspired to tell her story after a trip to the National Holocaust Museum’s 20th Commemorative Anniversary in Washington D.C.
Diana Taflin Myers’ mixed media collages were created during and after a trip to Berlin and Prague in 2008 where she encountered daily reminders of the Holocaust and its chilling repercussions, not only for Europe, but also for the world.
The Exhibit opens on October 25, 2019 and runs until December 8, 2019.
