The Academy Awards ceremony was first broadcast on radio in 1930 and televised for the first time in 1953. It is the oldest worldwide entertainment awards ceremony and is now seen live in more than 200 countries. Who are the 2019 frontrunners for best actor and actress? Best picture? Hear Bill Wine’s picks for the awards show, learn about the history of the Oscars and compete with your friends in a fun and entertaining Oscar trivia game.

Bill Wine has been a movie critic since the early 1970’s. Since that time, ​​he has served as movie critic, book reviewer, and columnist for many noteworthy publications, including: The Village Voice, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Philadelphia Daily News. Bill was also the movie critic for the Fox Network’s Philadelphia TV station from 1990 to 2002, first for its evening news and then for its morning program, receiving three Emmy awards and eight Emmy nominations for his writing. His most recent work has been with KYW Newsradio. Wine is a retired tenured professor in the department of communication at La Salle University, where he has taught film and writing courses. In addition to his work in the media and academia, he is also a produced and published playwright.
