All About Olive Oil

Program:
12:15-1:00 pm: Buffet lunch and program about religious uses of olive oil with Dr. Ruth Sandberg
Olive oil is a sacred substance to both Judaism and Christianity. It is not just important for the festival of Chanukah. It has significance within Judaism as one of the three staples of life; as integral to the sacrificial system in the Temple; and as a symbol of honor and favor. The centrality of oil in Judaism then passes into Christianity as one of its four most important symbols and is used for the sacrament of the anointing of sick and for holy Chrism.
1:00 - 2:00 pm: Olive oil fact and fiction presentation and taste-testing with Rishona Myers
Olive Lucy owner, Rishona Myers will teach us what to look for when choosing an olive oil. Taste-test a few flavors and purchase your favorite oils and vinegars for the holidays. Take home delicious recipes to try on your own. 10% of all proceeds go directly to Gratz.
