Adjunct Instructor in Nonprofit Management

Marilyn Lucas is a celebrated fundraiser in Philadelphia and among her colleagues nationally. Most recently, she was the Vice President for Development of the Philadelphia Orchestra, stepping in to build a successful fundraising program after the Orchestra filed for Chapter 11 in 2011.  She served in other  nonprofit fundraising positions for Gallaudet University, Arcadia University, University of Pennsylvania’s Development and Alumni Relations for Penn Health System and School of Medicine, The American Cancer Society, Osteopathic Medical Center of Philadelphia, Hahnemann University, and many voluntary associations, too numerous to note here. She was the academic program coordinator of the University of Pennsylvania’s Certificate Program in Fundraising from 1988-2008. She was awarded “Fundraiser of the Year” from the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 1997. With Jeanne B. Jenkins, she is the author of How to Find Fundraising Prospects,  published by the Fundraising Institute, 1986. The book was awarded the “AFP Hall of Fame” ( top ten books on fundraising). She is an adjunct instructor for Gratz College, teaching our class in Fundraising for the MS in Nonprofit Management.
