The 36-credit (12 courses) M.S. in Camp Administration and Leadership program provides practical and applied instruction on best camp practices through highly engaging courses that empower camp professionals with knowledge and skills for successful camp leadership.
This program prepares students to engage in strategic and tactical activities focused on camp management, operations and logistics, human capital management, budgeting and finance, and productivity metrics. The degree prepares students to organize, manage and lead camps by emphasizing organizational productivity, achieving competitive advantage and developing marketplace sustainability. Online courses are offered in accelerated 8-week sessions for students’ convenience. The practicum is done on site in students’ camp environments.
The Norman E. Friedman Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund is named to honor Norman E. Friedman in recognition of the immeasurable contributions he has made to advance the camp profession for over 30 years. Norman has been at the forefront of education for camp directors as a trusted Partner at AMSkier Insurance, including the conception and development of the Ezersky Safety College and the M.S. in Camp Administration and Leadership. The scholarship fund is supported by camp directors and owners who share Norman's vision for advancing the camp profession.
The scholarship is available to all students who have been accepted into, or are currently enrolled in, the Master’s Degree Program in Camp Administration and Leadership at Gratz College.

Meet the Program Director
Dave Malter, M.A., Ed.D. Doctoral Candidate
I have been involved with camps and youth development for over thirty years as a camper, counselor, administrator, teacher and consultant. My passions are deeply rooted in providing innovative educational content and opportunities for youth leaders at all levels. This program allows aspiring and experienced camp professionals to develop their leadership skills in a dynamic and meaningful environment. It fulfills the responsibility we all have to support other camp leaders and ensure the continued success of the youth development industry as a whole.
Academics
The Master's in Camp Administration and Leadership is designed for camp professionals who are looking to enhance their practice through a focused look at best practices in critical areas of camp leadership.
The 8 week, asynchronous courses will offer students active learning opportunities to reflect on their roles as leaders, share insights and learning with each other, and take new ideas back to their camp communities.
9 required courses explore essential topics for camp professionals and the 2 course Practicum experience allows students to design their own path, designing meaningful projects that best speak to their current interests and experience.

Meet Our Faculty
The Gratz College learning community is shaped by our amazing faculty. Our instructors come from a variety of educational spaces including schools, arts organizations and state agencies. As facilitators of the learning process, their goal is to inspire students towards reflection and deep thinking about teaching and learning. They share a passion for education, and view their role as collaborators in providing applicable course content and resources, and helping students to connect this learning to their individual teaching practices.
