Join us for dinner as this program explores one hundred years of Jewish life in South Jersey, tracing the remarkable journey from the agricultural colonies of Alliance, Norma, and Rosenhayn to the thriving Jewish communities of Atlantic City and the surrounding region. Beginning with the arrival of Eastern European Jewish immigrants in the late nineteenth century, the presentation examines how Jewish farmers, laborers, shopkeepers, and community leaders helped shape the social, cultural, and spiritual landscape of Jewish South Jersey over the past century.
Speaker: Josh Cutler
Josh Cutler is a Ph.D. student in Holocaust Studies at Gratz College and holds an M.A. in Holocaust and Genocide Studies from Stockton University. Josh has served as Program Director at the Marjorie & Lewis Katz Jewish Community Center, Camp Director of JCC Camp By the Sea, and is presently the Executive Director of the Board of Jewish Education of Atlantic & Cape May Counties.
His new book, The Seventy Shuls: Synagogue Life & Yiddishkeit from the Pine Barrens to the Boardwalk was published in 2026 and traces the incredible trajectory of Jewish Life from Alliance to Atlantic city - and everywhere in between. Books will be available for purchase.
