Join us for the formal investiture of Dr. Brendan Goldman, Program Director of Jewish Studies, as the inaugural Dr. Saul Philip Wachs Chair of Jewish Life and Learning.
Dr. Wachs will be presented with the Gratz Medal for his 42+ years of service to the College. He will offer his reflections and hopes for a changing Jewish world. Dr. Goldman will present his vision for the future of Jewish Studies at Gratz, with a special emphasis on Gratz's launch of the Executive PhD in Jewish Studies, which will forge a new generation of Jewish leaders furnished with doctoral caliber research, writing and analytical skills.
We will conclude with a moderated Q&A and a dessert reception.
The Shusterman Distinguished Scholar Lecture is supported by a major endowment dedicated to bringing outstanding programs to Gratz College. Gratz College is grateful for the generosity and foresight of Judith (z”l) and Murray (z”l) Shusterman.
Gratz College invites a range of voices to our programs, and the positions expressed by speakers are their own. While not all events aim to represent the full spectrum of perspectives on issues, we encourage thoughtful engagement and respectful dialogue.
