Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer is the Director of Whole Community Inclusion at Jewish Learning Venture. She is also an Adjunct Instructor at Gratz College. Ms. Kaplan-Mayer is an experienced Jewish educator, having worked as a Supplementary School education director, curriculum writer, teacher, and youth director/advisor for over 20 years. Gabby is the author of two books of plays for young people including Extraordinary Jews: Their Lives on Stage. Ms. Kaplan-Mayer’s nonfiction books include The Creative Jewish Wedding Book and The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Planner. She created an award-winning Shabbat family education program called Celebrations! for children with special needs and their families. Ms. Kaplan-Mayer’s most recent book, The Kitchen Classroom, is a cookbook for children with special needs, based on the inclusive cooking classes that she has taught for six years. She is a popular writer and blogger about Jewish topics and special needs topics. Ms. Kaplan-Mayer holds a B.F.A. in theatre and creative writing from Emerson College and an M.A. in Jewish Studies from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.
