This course looks at the role that the Holocaust plays in contemporary discourses surrounding antisemitism. Focusing primarily on the public sphere and popular culture, the curriculum introduces students to the myriad ways in which invocations of the Holocaust shape, inform, and occasionally distort understandings of modern day anti-Jewish bias. In addition, the course takes a close look at social media discourse, ranging from political TikTok accounts to the darkest corners of the antisemitic internet.
