This course includes a critical examination of concept of futurism and change in education including a review of the essential skills needed for educational leaders in today’s society. Key educational trends and educational planning tools will be explored. A core component of the course is attendance at the Gratz Summer Institute which features keynote addresses by futurist Bryan Alexander, Trinity Washington University president Patricia McGuire, and University of California Political Science professor Jeffery Kopstein. The course will build on and align with the Institute program themes and students will have the opportunity for synchronous and asynchronous discussion. Students will journal about the their learning and write a final project paper on one of the topics covered in the course. Attendance at the virtual Gratz Summer Institute is required July 9, 10, 11.
