HGS 624/724 - Holocaust, Genocide, and International Law

The purpose of the 1948 "UN Convention on the Prevention of the Crime of Genocide" was to prevent the recurrence of genocide after the Holocaust. Since the ratification of the Convention in 1951, genocide has continued to occur up until the present-day. This course will trace international law before and since 1948 to determine if and how law can be effectively applied to prosecute the perpetrators of genocide and to impact genocide prevention.
