First Samuel and Second Samuel, which together comprise the Book of Samuel, tell the interwoven stories of the prophet Samuel, King Saul, and especially King David.  Using a variety of methods and perspectives, including archaeological evidence and literary perspectives, this course will study this biblical book and the interpretations of King David in both ancient and modern Judaism.
