JST 605/704 - SP26B - Colloquium A: Angels in the Rabbinic Tradition

Angels have long populated the Jewish imagination—as messengers, guardians, and symbols of divine presence. This course explores how Jewish texts from the Bible through late antiquity imagine and interpret angels, revealing evolving ideas about God, creation, and the human role in the cosmos. Through close reading and guided discussion, students will consider how these celestial figures continue to inspire Jewish thought, ritual, and spiritual life today.
