In this course, we will examine how halakhic authorities throughout the ages responded to challenges and changes great and small, particularly those which touch upon migration. Through careful study of samples of responsa literature, we will seek to understand how Jews negotiated relocation and displacement, how religious authorities sought to adapt, and why.
