Wanted: U.S. Program Director
TOLI seeks a U.S. Program Director to lead the organization’s nationwide regional seminars through a period of growth and partnership development.
About TOLI
The Olga Lengyel Institute was established to empower teachers in the United States and Europe to engage today’s students in Holocaust and human rights education.
TOLI hosted its first professional development seminar in New York in 2006, bringing together middle, high school, and college educators from across the US. Since then, the organization has expanded to include Regional Seminars across the country which link the study of the Holocaust to local instances of injustice and hatred. These five-day seminars implement a unique pedagogy of reflective writing and inquiry-based learning and are led by teachers who are graduates of the TOLI Leadership Institute. To date, TOLI has provided over 4000 educators in the U.S. and Europe with the knowledge and skills to take the lessons of the Holocaust to their classrooms to engage the hearts and minds of their students. TOLI seminars include sessions on Jewish life and culture before and after the Holocaust and examine historical and contemporary antisemitism. Participants become part of the TOLI network and are provided with mentoring and resources to support and engage them throughout their teaching careers. The current US Program Director who developed and led this impactful program over the past eighteen years will be retiring and the organization is seeking a dynamic new leader.

Germantown Jewish Center
Philadelphia, PA
Germantown Jewish Centre (GJC) is seeking energetic, creative, Jewish educators to be a part of our vibrant and innovative team of Religious School (RS) teachers for the 2021-22 school year.
Our teachers are excited Jewish knowledge-seekers, youth-cheerleaders and community builders. They work to connect students to each other and to our rich and diverse Jewish heritage in a warm and curious educational environment. Teachers will receive direct support from the Education Director to build inclusive, empowered, compassionate and engaging classrooms with their students. Experienced and first-time teachers are encouraged to apply!
GJC is currently seeking teachers to teach Judaics on Sunday mornings between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm and on Wednesdays from approximately 4-6 pm in these classes: 2nd grade, combined 3rd-4th grade and combined 6th-7th grade. During January and February, classes take place on Saturday mornings instead of Sundays. While we are still formulating our plans for the coming year in light of the pandemic, we believe that Saturday/Sunday classes will meet in person while Wednesdays will most likely consist of individualized, virtual Hebrew instruction in which teachers will meet one-on-one or in very small groups with students via Zoom for a maximum of 2 hours total, most likely on Wednesdays.
GJC is a Conservative congregation in the heart of Philadelphia’s West Mount Airy neighborhood that serves Northwest Philadelphia’s multifaceted Jewish community. GJC is an inclusive community that values and embraces the diversity of all our families and staff. Our religious school is geared towards students (K-7) from all of GJC’s minyanim, including Dorshei Derekh (a Reconstructionist affiliate) and Minyan Masorti (a traditional egalitarian minyan)

Congregation Adat Reyim
Springfield, VA 22152
Congregation Adat Reyim is a welcoming, inclusive, growing congregation located 15-miles from Washington DC. Our name - which means a “Community of Friends” - values an inclusive approach to Judaism. We are an independent congregation of approximately 250 households that values the richness of Jewish tradition and respects the many ways our diverse community members connect to each other and the Divine.
Description: Congregation Adat Reyim is currently seeking to fill the position of Education Director. The Education Director serves as chief administrator of the Religious School (pre-K through B’nai Mitzvah) and of the teen program (post B’nai Mitzvah through Confirmation and the Madrichim program). The Education Director will work closely with Rabbi Chana Leslie Glazer who joined our congregation in July 2020 after our prior Rabbi of nearly 30 years retired. Rabbi Glazer brings extensive experience as an innovator of educational programming and is excited to work with our next Education Director. The Education Director and the Rabbi are part of a collaborative leadership team including the Executive Director and our Board of Directors. We believe in working cooperatively and collaboratively to create programs, curricular activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.
Our Religious School embraces the concepts of “adat” and “b’yachad”. We are a community and we are in this together. We are proud of our dedicated teachers who return year after year due to their tremendous investment in our community and our children. On Sunday mornings, you will find families and students engaging in our lively Ruach musical and prayerful assemblies. During student minyan, Rabbi Glazer and lay leaders lead us through the spiritual experience of the evening prayer service. On Monday evenings when we could gather in person, families brought prepared dishes from home to share as a community with our upper elementary school students. During this pandemic, our enthusiasm for Jewish education has extended to virtual platforms and we’ve continued to provide a rich learning experience despite the distance from one another.
Status: Full time, approximately 36 hours per week. 10.5-month position.
Time frame: Interviewing on a rolling basis in January and early February. Position starts July 1, 2021.

OJC is an egalitarian, inclusive and caring community that strives to maintain, model and teach Jewish values through ritual, on-going learning, social action and social programming. Our efforts are focused both within our own community, as well as in the local Jewish and secular community and beyond to Israel and the world.
The educational philosophy in our Kulanu program is that our learners should experience the joys of Judaism in the context of community, while acquiring the knowledge, skills and inspiration to continue to grow "Jewishly" throughout their lives. Our program is called Kulanu (“All of us”) rather than “Religious School” because we envision a community of active, cooperative learners engaged in Jewish life, learning and community. We offer a K-2 program that meets 1 day per week and a 3-7 program that meets 2 days per week. The total number of Kulanu participants varies yearly between sixty and eighty children. Students learn from one another (“chevruta” learning in “Beit midrash” setting), in small group settings with mentors from our community, and through hands-on project-based curricula. We aspire to maintain a collaborative, experiential and interactive learning community where students are actively engaged.
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Educational Director/Educator who embraces change and new initiatives; who has the vision to inspire others; who will warmly engage our students and their families; and who will be passionate about maintaining and nurturing a thriving Jewish learning community.
Educational Director/Educator responsibilities:
- Foster a respectful, positive environment where students, families and staff experience a meaningful connection to the Jewish community.
- Develop, implement, manage and oversee curriculum, and adjust curriculum delivery and learning environments as needed.
- Create and execute a communication plan for the Kulanu community.
- Oversee Kulanu operations, including registration, scheduling, programming, staffing, safety and security, and budgeting.
- Support, train, evaluate and retain staff, and recruit staff as needed.
- Teach as a member of our staff.
- Participate as an ex officio member of the Kulanu Board to coordinate meetings and to represent Kulanu to the greater OJC community and the local community at large. Qualifications: * Strong Hebrew and Judaic knowledge * Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Strong organizational skills * Educational experience * Administrative experience * Technology competence * Experience with virtual and/or hybrid learning
