Borrowing + Access Policies

As of March 2020, the Gratz College campus is closed to the public to respect the safety of our community. Borrowing of physical items from the Tuttleman Library or other libraries is available on a limited basis.

Communication with the librarian is available at library@gratz.edu. Requests for articles can still be made and shared electronically and eBooks can be downloaded. For any questions or assistance with research, please email the Librarian at the address above.

The Library space is open Monday - Thursday, 10am to 5pm and Friday, 10am to 3pm. Reference services are available in the evenings and on weekends via email. Please allow the librarians time to answer your questions or request.

The Library on-site collection is open to the Gratz community, students, and interested scholars. Visiting researchers should call ahead and make an appointment with the Librarian to access our Special Collections or for specific in-depth work. All guests must sign in at the College front desk. The Library offers one (1) public access computer and free wi-fi. We recommend that you bring your own device.

Borrowing items that circulate is free of charge and is limited to ten (10) concurrent items, generally for a period of four (4) weeks for community members and one (1) semester for students and faculty. Materials may be renewed unless it has been requested by another patron. Overdue fines will be charged on materials returned past the stated due date. Fine is 10 cents per day.

Materials not part of the collection may be obtained through interlibrary loan (ILL), governed by the rules of the lending library. All interlibrary loan requests must be submitted to the librarian through this form; requests should be expected to take from 1 hour for emailed journal articles, up to 2 weeks for printed books. NOTE: Due to the COVID crisis most college libraries have suspended ILL or are operating on a very limited basis. The cost to borrow from the Library is $15.00 per item for institutions. Current students and faculty of Gratz College incur no fee, other than late fees.

Online subscription database access is for currently enrolled students and faculty only with a LITS provided login. Students have access to their Gratz Library login for the duration of their time at Gratz until graduation.

Gratz College is a member of the Tri-State College Library Cooperative (TCLC). This provides an opportunity for those in the Gratz College community to utilize other college libraries in the region. Borrowing privileges are among the benefits; access to eBooks, eJournals and databases are not included. As a member of TCLC, Gratz College faculty and students have access to the libraries that are members of this group. Here is the member directory.

The Gratz College Holocaust Oral History Archive is open on Tuesdays from 1pm to 5pm, by appointment: 215-635-7300 x13
